Gentle reader, thank you for joining me on this four-year voyage. You probably have questions at this point, such as, “Is the comic really over?” or “Why now?” or “What was the island?”
First off, I have to say that writing Squid Pro Crow has been one of the best experiences of my life and one of my proudest accomplishments to date. I wish I could continue to devote the time to it that I have these past four years, but I aspire to entertain a bigger (and more lucrative!) audience than the comic ever managed to find, so I think it’s time to focus my energies on other endeavors for awhile. Besides, after four years of regular output, new ideas were running a little thin, and the last thing I ever wanted to do was write sub-par comics just to keep it going for the occasional gem.
That doesn’t mean Squid Pro Crow won’t return some day in some form. While the initial plan was a clean ending, I’ve since decided that maybe a little break would suffice and not necessitate me closing off this avenue permanently. Honestly, I think I’d miss it too much if I ended it for good at this point. Additionally, there are new readers who only just recently discovered the comic, and I’m still getting positive feedback, so I think SPC has legs to go on yet. I foresee Squid and Crow and their host of miscellaneous characters returning occasionally for one-off runs…and possibly another book. (So keep an eye out.)
In the meantime, thank you once again for your readership, your encouragement, and your support.
